The WHC WAY

  • WHC is committed to creating socially conscious art that gives back to our community. To do this, all ticket sales from WHC projects are to benefit local non-profit organizations related to the work.

Thus, each project we produce must have a direct call-to-action.

    • What are audiences encouraged to do after they see this work?

    • What kind of impact can the project have on the community?

  • The WHC commitment is to provide our resources to help each of our artist’s dreams come true.

    • Including but not limited to: marketing, fundraising, time, collaboration.

WHC will appoint one WHC Administrator to lead on every project.

    • We strive to emphasize mentorship that caters to each individual artists’ needs.

  • WHC is an artist centric organization. We will prioritize giving opportunities to new artists in the area.

All artists we work with will get paid an equitable wage based on appropriate union standards.

We hope to provide a space for artists to thrive and create through gatherings, workshops, events, and classes.

  • WHC is committed to being an anti-racist organization that respects and honors all voices while upholding the values of community, equity, access, and belonging.

We understand that the United States is a country founded on white supremacy and anti-Blackness, and that these belief systems are tightly woven throughout American arts and culture.

We have BIPOC representation amongst our staff members and board members.

We are committed to ensuring that the artists’ work on our stages represent a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.

We provide tickets to our production at discounted community rates and supply select community groups with complimentary tickets to each of our projects.

  • We value process over product and encourage all of our artists to create an intentional process for all involved.

WHC expects our artists to follow our process guidelines in order to create safe and equitable working environments. These guidelines include:

    • To all projects for which it applies – you must hold auditions.

    • All projects will have a post-mortem process to help those involved (including WHC) learn and continue to grow.

    • All projects must abide by our safety protocols.

  • At WHC, we believe offering talkbacks is essential to creating community with our audiences.

Thus, following every project, WHC will facilitate a talkback with a panel of experts regarding the call to action for each project.

There will also be a resource guide available to all audience members with useful information and links to appropriate local non-profit organizations.

  • WHC is committed to being a transparent organization. We will share a public archive with a post-production report to maintain this transparency with the public.

All reports will be posted to our website for viewing at any time.

The “watering  hole  way”

The mission of the Watering Hole Collective is to produce socially conscious art that engages, inspires, and cultivates conversations and advocacy within our North Texas Community.

With community at the core of our mission:

- We create opportunities for artists to produce their own work, providing mentorship, marketing, donor connections, and fundraising guidance.

- We produce work with the goal of raising awareness and funds for local non-profits, recognizing the transformative power of art to shape perspectives, prompt dialogue, and serve as a vital catalyst for social change.

In doing this, we enrich the cultural tapestry of our city and nourish the artists in our community.
