WINTER WORKSHOP FESTIVAL
During this event, artists had the opportunity to collaborate on the development of two powerful new plays: The Fighter and the Mechanical Man, a modern adaptation of Of Mice and Men by Brady White and All The World Was Made For You, a memory play dealing with childhood trauma, by Josh LeBlanc.
The festival included a week of rehearsals followed by a free presentation of the two plays. It was full of artistic exploration, community, and the creation of thought-provoking theater at the Bathhouse Cultural Center.
In our commitment to creating authentic, impactful work, we collaborated with autism specialist, Rachel Bailey, for The Fighter and the Mechanical Man and child-parent relationship specialist, Dr. Dee Ray, for All The World Was Made For You. These experts participated with the playwrights, offering invaluable feedback on their scripts. They also worked directly with the actors during rehearsals, ensuring that the sensitive subject matter was handled with care and authenticity. Additionally, they joined our talkbacks with the audience, sharing their perspectives and fostering important conversations.

"Having the mental health professionals were GREAT and should definitely be a thing in every artistic endeavor, they were a huge help."
-
"Everyone at the WHC was great stewards of the project and immensely kind and professional. I would be thrilled to work with any one of them again in any capacity. "
-
"I like how WHC incorporated the mental health expert ... I applaud WHC for reaching out and giving a voice to the community when so few DFW theaters do."
